Hey there, fellow survivor! If you’re like me, you’ve probably spent a lot of time staring at the icy waters of Whiteout Survival, wondering how some players pull in legendary fish while you’re stuck with a boot. Well, grab your rod and let’s talk about the Fishing Tournament. Once a month, the tranquil fishing grounds turn into a competitive arena, and it’s one of the best ways to score serious loot. I’ve been grinding this event since it first dropped, and I’m here to give you the lowdown for 2026. No fluff, just the stuff that works.

How Fishing Actually Works

First things first: drag your finger across the screen to guide your hook down into the deep. Your goal? Avoid bumping into fish and junk. Every bump retracts your line early, which means you won’t reach the rare fish chilling in the abyss. If you snag something early, hit the 'Retreat' button. You won’t lose bait or Treasure Charts, so don’t be a hero. Once your hook hits max depth or takes too many bumps, it starts coming back up. On the ascent, swipe toward a fish’s mouth to catch it. The number of fish you can catch per attempt depends on your Hook level.

Two Modes, Two Flavors

Whiteout Survival gives you two fishing modes during the tournament, and each has its own vibe.

Mode How to Play Best For
Ice Fishing Standard mode. Uses bait. You start with 5 bait, then get 1 every 3 hours, max 10. Steady progress, free-to-play grind
Frosty Prospector Uses Treasure Charts. Rarer fish, items, and sunken chests. Your Fishing Kit is automatically maxed. High-risk, high-reward point hunting

Treasure Charts are rarer than a sunny day in the frozen waste. You get them from daily chests, the Ice Fishing Club, or by buying the Fishing Pro Set. I save every single chart for Frosty Prospector because the point potential is massive.

Your Fishing Kit: Line, Hook, and Sinker

Your kit has three pieces, and upgrading them is the difference between a minnow and a monster catch.

whiteout-survival-fishing-tournament-guide-2026-master-the-reel-deal-image-3

  • Line – Determines max depth. At level 10, you can reach 550 meters. Rare fish hang out deep, so this is your top priority.

  • Hook – Determines how many fish you can catch per attempt. Level 10 Hook holds 20 fish. More fish equals more points.

  • Sinker – Sets your starting depth. Level 10 lets you start at 165 meters, skipping the shallow nonsense.

You upgrade with Fishing Tokens, earned by catching fish. My advice: prioritize Line and Hook first. Sinker is great later when you’re tired of dodging shallow obstacles. Maxing all three to level 10 unlocks Power Cast, which multiplies your attempts and points. That’s the endgame, folks.

Special Items That Give You an Edge

There are four special items that can turn a decent run into a leaderboard-climbing masterpiece.

  • Horn of Poseidon – Summons a specific fish of your choice. It’s guaranteed to appear, but you still need to reach its depth. The game shows you the distance, so plan accordingly.

  • Reel Stabilizer – Gives you two extra bumps before your line starts ascending. It’s a safety net for those deep dives.

  • Ocean Scanner – Reveals rare fish location and distance as your hook ascends. Perfect for targeting high-value catches.

  • Lantern – Illuminates depths beyond 300 meters, where the water gets darker than a polar night. Essential for Frosty Prospector.

You can get these from the Fishing Pro Set or the Ice Fishing Club. Free-to-play players can earn them through club milestones, so don’t think you’re locked out.

Ice Fishing Club and Premium Perks

The Ice Fishing Club rewards you based on Fishing Tokens earned during the event. Free-to-play players can snag Treasure Charts, Horn of Poseidon, Reel Stabilizer, Lantern, Ocean Scanner, Ice Fisher Voucher, resource chests, mythic manuals, speedups, gold keys, hero shards, and gems.

Collection Guide: Your Fishy Pokédex

The Collection Guide tracks every fish, diver, chest, and random item you catch. It’s divided by season: Spring, Autumn, Summer, Winter. Each catch gives you a star rating and gems for the first time. Rarer fish mean higher stars and better rewards.

Sunken Treasure Hunt

Once you max your Fishing Kit to level 10, you unlock the Sunken Treasure Hunt. Each draw costs 1,500 Fishing Tokens and gives you a chance at mythic hero shards, manuals, resources, Frostsea Fishing Chest, Essence Stones, and speedups. It’s a luck-based draw, so don’t blow your tokens unless you’re feeling lucky.

Master Fisher Leaderboard and Rewards

The leaderboard ranks players by Fishing Points. Quality matters as much as quantity, so rare fish and unique items are your ticket to the top.

My Top Tips for 2026

  1. Upgrade Line and Hook first. Depth and capacity are king.

  2. Save special items for deep runs or Frosty Prospector. Don’t waste a Lantern on a shallow bait attempt.

  3. Use Horn of Poseidon with Treasure Charts in Frosty Prospector. It’s a lethal combo for points.

  4. Maximize Frosty Prospector. Burn all your Treasure Charts there. Save Icefisher Vouchers for great runs.

  5. Master the hook wiggle. Avoiding bumps is a skill. Practice makes perfect.

  6. Leverage Power Cast. When it’s available, go big or go home.

  7. Stay active. Use every bait and chart. Points add up.

The Fishing Tournament isn’t just a chill minigame. It’s a strategic goldmine. With these tips, you’ll be reeling in rare fish and climbing the leaderboard like a pro. So cast your line, dodge those obstacles, and let the waves of fortune carry you to victory. Tight lines, survivor! 🎣
